New 2017 Online Workshop - ART OF THE BOOK



Randel Plowman will be conducting a six-week online bookmaking workshop. Participants will be creating a variety of artist’s book during this workshop. This course will feature downloadable videos and instructions for each project. Exploration of materials is encouraged and students can combine other media that they are familiar with such as photography, drawing, printmaking, painting and collage. Students will learn the basics of hand-made book production and practice a number of binding techniques that can be done at home.

This is a course for both beginner and intermediate artist.

Some of the books we will be making include: Japanese Stab Binding,  Concertina Binding, Pamphlet Binding,  Palm Leaf Manuscript and more.

New projects and videos will be broadcast every Saturday and will be available to view or download via the course website.  

Course begin Saturday, January 7 and runs through February 18. 2017

Randel Plowman received his M.F.A. in printmaking from University of Wisconsin-Madison and his B.F.A. from Northern Kentucky University. He has exhibited in solo and juried exhibitions throughout the United States; in addition, his work appears in many public and private collections in North America and abroad, his work has been cited in numerous publications, including The New York Times and USA Today; been featured in The Paris Review, How Design magazine, Artist Magazine and Somerset Studio. He is the author of two books, Masters: Collage, and The Collage Workbook: How To Get Started And Stay Inspired, voted Best Art Instruction Book of 2012 by the Library Journal.

Conversations

Excited to be included in this group printmaking show! If you are in the Northern Kentucky area I hope that you can attend.
"Conversations, Curated by Andrea Knarr" opens Monday, August 22, 2016 at 9 a.m. in the Main Gallery and continues until Friday, September 16, 2016. This exhibtion will highlight 31 regional printmakers. The Main Gallery is located on the Third Floor of the Fine Arts Center at Northern Kentucky University. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The night of the artist reception parking is avilable for free in parking lots I and D. Learn to manage your career as an artist, from putting together a strong portfolio to documenting your work.  In this 6-week online course, taught by artist and author Randel Plowman, participants will apply a self-directed strategic plan for self-promotion through a number of exercises and projects.
