The Art of Food
THE EXHIBITION
Ornate edible creations and sculpture were often created for celebrations in the cities and courts
of early modern Europe. The Art of Food, an upcoming Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts
Center special exhibition of ephemeral art created out of food, pays homage to this past
“tradition” and will feature food as more than a necessity; but a visual and taste experience.
The Art of Food explores the ways in which food is a complete sensory experience through creative
interpretations from artists who use food as the inspiration for art. Today, the food industry is
integrated in all aspects of pleasing the senses. This unique two-week exhibition attracts the art
and culinary masters of the area to create a collage of art, food and atmospheres.
EDIBILITY FACTOR MAKES EVENT UNIQUE
This special exhibition, presented by bigg’s, begins on March 6 from 6:00-9:00pm with a veritable
feast for the eyes and also the palate. During the event, top chefs and culinary experts from the
Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati area will blend with fantastic local artists to stage the
dynamic way in which food comprises an art form. Over 600 guests will engage in scrumptious
sampling while visually feasting on works by returning artist Eric Brass who is doing a Serat painting
out of Froot Loops and Edvard Munch piece out of penny candy, Randel Plowman (collages),
Ana Fragoso (food carvings), and Richard Prince (marzipan) as well as the following:
